Join us at The Met for a Wikipedia edit-a-thon focused on the history, art, and culture of America—and the understanding that each of us brings to America. America's past and evolution is a complex tapestry of cultures, from Indigenous peoples to settlers, enslaved peoples, pioneers, and immigrants. Each culture, together with the growing pains of war, industry, and expansion, has provided a rich history of our past in the objects that artists and artisans created.
This is an edit-a-thon for all to explore a variety of American subjects. Whether you are inspired by works of art from The Met's American Wing or historical events depicted in art, we invite you to bring your perspective of our national experience and help build greater global knowledge about America.
The Met will provide a starter set of art object images (circa 1600 through 1900) to work on from a variety of subjects, including paintings, sculpture, drawings, and decorative arts produced by a wide spectrum of Americans.
We welcome seasoned Wikipedians as well as newbies to join in this fun and focused event. Faculty, educators, students, and the public are also invited to participate.
Refreshments and Wiki cake will be served.
Don't forget to bring your own laptop to contribute.
