Exemplary of late Joseon blue-and-white porcelain produced at the court kilns (Bunwon), this faceted jar features delicately painted plum blossoms on one side and bamboo on the other—motifs associated with winter and summer respectively that also (with the chrysanthemum and orchid) symbolize the virtuous Confucian scholar.
