Box with Many Angles- 97

Kim Seol Korean
1997
Not on view
Kim drew from various traditional methods and uncommon materials to create this complex asymmetrical shape. The sleek, black-lacquer interior is sprinkled with mother-of-pearl inlay. The exterior bears layers of smooth black and red lacquer textured with tofu and incising. Quail eggshell and mother-of-pearl inlaid on the seam create bright-white opaque accents.
