Posta sul retro della testa, che raffigura Tutankhamon, si trova la mano del dio Amon. Ciò indica che la scultura intera in origine raffigurava la divinità seduta dietro le spalle del faraone, in piedi e di dimensioni inferiori. Prima del regno di Tutankhamon in Egitto c’era stato un grande sconvolgimento religioso durante il regno di Akhenaton, che promosse l’adorazione di un’unica divinità, il dio della luce Aton. Tutankhamon ripristinò il politeismo tradizionale con la supremazia del dio Amon, come si vede da questa scultura.
