女性頭像、おそらくスフィンクス

ギリシャでは石灰岩と大理石が豊富だったため、大規模な彫刻にテラコッタ(素焼き土器)が使われることはほとんどありませんでした。全体のプロポーションと、首の部分で折れていることから、この格別に優れた頭像は、小さな建物の屋根を飾るスフィンクスの一部だったと考えられています。スフィンクスは(11.185a–d, f, g)のアッティカの墓碑の名作に見られるように、従来守り神として墓標の一部を構成していました。この像では、耳飾りやヘ ッドバンドなどが多彩色で細かく描かれています。
