This artwork was restituted in September 2024. It is no longer in the museum’s collection.この銀鍍金製のスキュポス(カップ)は、ローマ時代の金属細工の頂点を極めた作品です。これらはほぼ間違いなく、皇室やローマの貴族御用達の一流の工房で作られたものと思われます。カップには、踊ったり楽器を奏でているキューピッドが高浮彫りで描かれ、ディオニュソス的なお祭りと関連性のある題材は、贅沢な晩餐会で使われるにふさわしいものですが、特に象徴的な意味はなかったと思われます。類似する他の凝った銀製品同様、これらも実用向けであると同時に、観賞用であったことは明らかです。
