中国における銀細工の技術は、中央・西アジアとの活発な交流によって様式やモチーフに異文化の影響が反映された唐時代(618–906年)に頂点に達しました。製造技法も従来の鋳造に代わり、打ち出しや彫金浮き彫りが主流となりました。裏面からの打ち出しによる花鳥文が施されたこの精緻な葉形皿は、唐代の装飾美術の粋を結集した作品です。
