マダム・ジャック·ルイ·ルブラン (フランソワーズ・ポンセール、1788–1839年)

ジャック·ルイ·ルブランとその夫人は、トスカーナ女大公エリーザ・バチオッキ(旧姓ボナパルト)の宮廷付きのフランス政府職員でしたが、1814年から15年にナポレオンが失脚した後、フィレンツェに残りました。アングルは1820年にローマからフィレンツェへ移り住んだ際にふたりに出会いました。この夫妻をひとりずつ描いた対の肖像画は、アングルの作品中最大のものに挙げられ、宮廷の注文で描かれた作品以外では唯一の対の作品です。1896年にエドガー・ドガがセットで購入し、彼の膨大なコレクションのアングルの作品の中でも最高傑作と評しました。
