On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.Hermann Hauser, Germany’s most important guitar builder of the twentieth century, met Andrés Segovia in 1925 and studied his Ramírez guitar. Hauser then began building Spanish-style instruments, eventually making guitars that surpassed those of the Spanish masters. This example was played by Julian Bream for much of his career as a concert guitarist.
