アメリカ人企業家のヘンリー・ウィリアム・スティーゲルは、ペンシルベニア州マンハイムにアメリカン・フリントガラス・マニュファクトリー(アメリカ鉛ガラス工房)を創立し、アメリカ市場におけるヨーロッパ製品の独占に対抗しました。彼の工房では移民の職人がアメリカ初の高級テーブルウェアを制作し、無色に加え、コバルトブルーやアメジストなど、宝石のような色彩のガラスを作りました。この小型のフラスコに見られるダイヤモンド型に囲まれたヒナギクの模様は、おそらく流行のカットグラスの意匠を真似たものだと思われます。
