Voulant contrer la domination des importations européennes, Henry William Stiegel, entrepreneur américain, fonda l’American Flint Glass Manufactory à Manheim, en Pennsylvanie. Ses artisans, tous immigrants, sont à l’origine des premiers services de table élégants du Nouveau Monde. Outre le verre incolore, la manufacture produisit des verres aux riches coloris améthyste et bleu cobalt. La marguerite enfermée dans un diamant qui décore ce flacon est probablement copiée d’un motif populaire en cristallerie.
