コールデン・ハウスのヴァープランク・ルーム

アメリカン・ウィングには、歴史的な部屋が20室再現されています。その1室であるこの部屋は、独立戦争以前のニューヨークの家の様子を示すものです。暖炉と羽目板のある壁、その他の内部造作は、キャドワラダー・コールデン Jr. (ニューヨーク副総督の子息)が1767年にマンハッタンの北約97 kmに建てた別荘にあったものです。調度品はサミュエル・ヴァープランクと妻のジュディス・クロメリン・ヴァープランクがニューヨーク市ウォールストリートの自宅で1760 年代から使った品です。夫妻の遺族が当美術館へ遺贈したこれらの作品の中には、ジョン・シングルトン・コプリーによる家族の肖像画、ニュー ヨークで制作された比類のない一揃いの椅子、長椅子、カード・テーブル、そして中国製の輸出用磁器などがあります。
