Hat
Schiaparelli, who designed this lively creation for her fall 1939 collection, was known to use unusual materials in both her clothing and accessory designs. The creative use of a variety of berries and leaves on this hat makes for a witty, refined and visually interesting accessory. Schiaparelli chose berries, such as currants, grapes and raspberries, and placed them against a backdrop of oak leaves with acorn accents. The realistic composition suggests an abundant harvest, or a successful jaunt into a magical forest where all types of delicious fruits and berries grow.
