Marble torso of a female figure
On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum. The sensitively carved torso is part of a figure that would originally have measured about 15 inches in height. Close observation reveals the subtle articulation and asymmetries in the rendering of the body, both front and back. Particularly noteworthy are the long fingers.
