책상과 책장
현존하는 미국 연방 가구 중 특이한 이 H형 책상과 책장은 영국 가구제작자 토마스 셰러턴의 캐비닛 디렉토리(1803년)에서 디자인38호 여자 형제 원통 책장에서 직접적으로 영감을 받아 제작한 것이지만 여기에서 제작자는 두 다리 사이의 사각형 덮개로 책상을 셰러턴의 굴절 원형 덮개로로 대체하였습니다. 착색되고 도금된 유리문 패널은 옛날 의상을 한 춤추는 그리스 처녀를 묘사합니다. 전반적인 대칭, 기하학적인 추상, 그리고 대조적인 새틴나무와 마호가니 널빤지 사용의 조합은 이 책상을 미국 가구에 있어서 신고전주의 양식을 가장 특출나게 적응시킨 것 중 하나로 꼽히게 합니다.
