추크호
이 수채화는 노바르의 휴 먼로(1797– 1864)가 1843년에 제작을 의뢰하였으며 터너는 스위스 알프스에서 장기 여행 중 그렸던 스케치에 기초하여 완성하였고 후에 터너에 우호적이었던 비평가 존 러스킨(1819– 1900)이 소유하였습니다. 전경에는 여인들이 요정처럼 목욕을 하고 있으며 원경의 추크 호반 마을 뒤 산 위로 태양이 떠오릅니다. 붓에서 수채물감의 물기를 조절하여 섬세하게 겹쳐 칠한 후 미묘한 긁어내기 기법에 의한 빛과 공기의 뛰어난 묘사는 터너의 수작에서 볼 수 있는 특징이며 이 기법을 통해 터너는 풍경화에 신화적인 분위기를 부여합니다.
