1673 –75년경의 이 후기 그림에서 스텐은 자기 자신을 왼쪽에 있는 술 취한 여관주인으로 등장시킵니다. 화가의 두 번째 아내 마리아는 아마 중앙에 요염한 포즈를 취하고 있는 인물의 모델이었을 것입니다. 그녀의 유리컵과 뚱뚱한 남자의 술통은 성적으로 도발적이지만 젊은 음악가와 친숙한 이 여인과 현악기 모양을 볼 때 이 젊은 음악가가 여인의 관심을 더 끌 수 있음을 제시합니다. 지나치게 치장한 소년은 성인들의 행위에 대한 주변 의견으로 작용할 수 있으며 굴레가 씌워진 말과 채찍은 보통 절제를 의미합니다.
