두 마리의 새가 마주보는 장식이 있는 초승달 형상의 펜던트
파티마 왕조시대(969–1171년) 카이로에서 제작된 미술작품의 특징은 인간과 동물 모티프의 사용이 눈에 띄게 증가했고 높은 수준의 공예기술이 사용된 점입니다. 금격자 위에 누금세공으로 정교하게 장식한 이 펜던트는 이 시대의 특히 뛰어난 금세공 작품입니다. 파티마 왕조시대에 이 펜던트를 제작한 금세공 장인은 비잔틴 미술에서 비롯된 초승달 모양의 장식뿐 아니라 중앙의 새를 묘사하기 위해 칠보공예 기술을 사용하였습니다. 이 금세공 장인은 기존의 칠보세공품을 구입하여 금 토대 위에 접착제로 붙여 이 작품을 제작한 것으로 추정됩니다.
