On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.The Hetumid family gained power in Cilicia through the marriage of Het‘um I with Zabel, the only child of Levon I. Her authority is shown on this rare example of a royal couple on a coin. On the back is a lion with a cross.
