청색, 녹색, 적색
동세대의 다른 화가와 달리 켈리는 자신의 주변환경 관찰을 통해 추상화를 제작하였습니다. 그는 “나의 아이디어는 사물이 어떻게 보이는지를 항상 관찰하는 데서 비롯된다”라고 말하였습니다. 청색, 녹색, 적색은 이러한 삼색을 사용하여 1963년과 1965년 사이에 완성한 작품으로서 8점의 대형 연작 중 첫번째 작품입니다. 이 작품은 켈리의 1958년작가면과 양식적인 유사성이 있습니다.가면은 동일한 삼색을 사용했으며 구도는 펴놓은 책에 비친 그림자에서 착안하였습니다. 긴박감이 넘치는 평면 형상과 단색으로 균일하게 채색된 선명한 색면으로 구성된 청색, 녹색, 적색은 강한 시각 효과를 일으켜 주제와 배경을 분간하기 어렵게 만듭니다.
