두사사 II
가나에서 태어났으며 현재 나이지리아에 주재하고 있는 엘 아나추이는 오늘날 가장 유명한 당대 아프리카인 조각가로 알려져 있습니다. 벽에 설치한 그의 작품은 우연히 발견된 재료를 사용해 만들어집니다. 일반적으로 수천 개의 폐품 알루미늄 뚜껑과 납작하게 해 모양을 만들고 구멍을 뚫어 구리선으로 연결한 술병 뚜껑 같은 재료가 사용됩니다. 아나추이는 자신을 조각가로 인정했지만 마치 화가 또는 태피스트리 공방의 디렉터처럼 재료를 세심하게 구성하였습니다. 그의 작품은 아프리카 전통 문화(가나의 켄테 천), 서양 미술(모자이크, 태피스트리, 구스타브 클림트의 그림), 현대 생활(주류 소비, 소비 지상주의의 잔해)에 기반을 두고 있습니다. 아나추이에 따르면, 이 작품의 제목 두사사는 “마을 주민들이 팀을 이뤄 제작한 공동 패치워크”로 번역할 수 있는데, 그의 조수들을 가르킵니다.
