Locket

between 1900 and 1999
Not on view
This locket resembles a half-leather binding. The front cover is decorated with a full-cover design of flowers, probably forget-me-nots. The centers of the blossoms and the interior of the leaves are painted with green enamel. The back cover is decorated with corners only. The spine is engraved with four sets of three-lined bands. Inside is one hinged page. The interiors of the covers and the loose page all have oval cut-outs for photographic inclusions, but they are all empty. A press bar is on the foredge, and this is the locking/opening mechanism for the locket. A hanging loop and jump ring in the center of the top of the book-- description by Mindell Dubansky in consultation with Lynn Heckman
