Visiting The Met? The Temple of Dendur will be closed through Friday, May 9.

H Sinno: Westerly Breath | MetLiveArts

Myth, memoir, and monumentality collide in H Sinno‘s site-specific opera “Westerly Breath,“ premiered in the Temple of Dendur in January 2024. The work takes cues from the myth of Osiris (central to Egyptian funerary practices) as well as elements of Sinno‘s life as a musician, activist, and advocate, positing the majestic Temple as a metaphor for migration and immigration and ruminating on Sinno‘s own journey as a hyphenated American.

Recorded on Friday, January 26, 2024 in Gallery 131, The Temple of Dendur.

This program was made possible by the Adrienne Arsht Fund for Resilience through Art.

“Westerly Breath“ was developed with support from The Industry's LAB 2022 Program.
