“We discovered that art history was not the best handle by which to reach a kid.” Since its founding in 1870, The Met has had a strong educational mission. In this 1972 film, a team of educators brings students from the New York metro area together for experimental arts-education courses in the Museum. Students engage with masterpieces in new and surprising ways, from dancing beside Greek and Roman statuary to making music, movies, and art in the galleries.
