Títeres Populares Mexicanos (Mexican popular puppets)
‘Títeres Populares Mexicanos’, a publication devoted to 'Mexican popular puppets' comprises text written by Roberto Largo, an introduction by Jean Charlot and 71 etched and aquatint proofs for 40 plates by Lola Cueto (including a number that were not included in the commercial edition) and an index of their titles. The front matter and the prints are not bound (this is a proof set) and everything is housed in the original cover (cellophane-wrapped) that has an impression of 'Circus girl' printed in red pasted in the centre. There were eventually 105 copies of the book printed. The aquatints were printed by Cueto and Largo ‘by hand’ in the workshop of Carlos Alvarado Lang and the text was printed at the Talleres Gráficos de la Nación (Mexico City). On the inside of the title page (bi-fold) is a long hand written text by Cueto relating to technique and process that is signed and dated February 1947. All the prints have individual sub numbers: 46.46.688(1-71).
