This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.Clodion, in Italy between 1762 and 1771 and again in 1773–74, cultivated an international clientele eager for his spirited evocations of classical antiquity in terracotta. He modeled this bucolic fantasy while selecting marbles from the quarries at Carrara in 1773.
