Marble female figure
On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum. The figure is characteristic of a group of quite small examples undoubtedly connected with fertility. It is in exceptionally good condition and remarkable for the preservation of the head which, in all complete objects of this type, receives less emphasis than the body. A larger counterpart (1972.118.104) is displayed in a nearby case.
