Sculpted in the form of a blooming flower, this exquisite bowl exemplifies the extraordinary craftsmanship of seventeenth- to eighteenth-century Indian lapidary art. The delicate walls and refined carving captivated the Qianlong Emperor, who praised the object as “thin as paper” and “impeccably wrought by the hand of nature.”
