The only print on folio 62 of the Wilton Album
For more information on the Wilton album see entry for 27.78.1(1-428)
A large extching executed and published by Borgianni and dedicated to Francisco Ruiz de Castro Andrade y Portugal, conde de Castro and duque de Taurisano, Spanish ambassador to Rome between 1609 and 1616. Like Borgianni's other large etching, Saint Christopher (B. XVII.320.53) (27.78.1(204) ), this work is based on a painting Borgianni had executed for the dedicatee of the print. Several painted version of the compositions are known, but it cannot be determined which one belonged to de Castro. For more on Borgianni's relations with these Spanish diplomats see Antonio Vannugli, "Orazio Borgianni, Juan de Lezcano, and a 'Martyrdom of St Lawrence' at Roncesvalles", The Burlington Magazine, 140, 1998, pp. 5-15.
