Tsagain Myo: Ruined Tazoung
On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.Tripe’s photograph of this small, ruined wooden shrine suggests his curiosity at the Burmese Buddhists’ apparent lack of concern for the repair of certain religious structures. This neglect reflects the belief that one gains greater spiritual merit by establishing a new shrine or monastery than by repairing an existing one.
