Además de practicar la sátira y el humor, Posada creó grabados destinados a otros fines. Nuestra Señora de la Soledad era muy venerada en México, y los volantes que incluían una imagen suya, una oración o la descripción de un milagro relacionado con ella se imprimían por miles. En el reverso de este grabado aparece un largo texto en el que se refiere un milagro acaecido en Saltillo (Coahuila), donde la Virgen salvó a un joven de morir de inanición. Esta plancha fue creada por Posada a principios de la década de 1890. Sus planchas se reimprimían una y otra vez.
