Marking: Impressed on upper surface along edge of engraved ornament: a shoe in an oval (unidentified maker's mark); a pinecone over the letter c (Augsburg town and date mark for 1737–39); a swan in an oval (French customs mark in use from 1893); script I in a horizontally hatched reserve (Dutch 19th century stamp instituted in 1905/6 for old domestic goldsmith's work).
Notes on marks: Mark apparently struck here erroneously, in place of the contemporary tax mark for foreign silver.
