Pair of candelabra

Manufactory Maison Ferdinand Barbedienne French

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 556

The firm of Ferdinand Barbedienne worked in a wide range of revival styles and experimented with different enameling techniques. With their bold sculptural outline, these candelabra employ numerous motifs from Romanesque art. Freely interpreted, they result in an original design.
