Inscription: Inscribed on the tang of the blade, on the obverse: 井上真改 (Inoue Shinkai); on the reverse: (菊紋)延宝五年八月日 ((Kiku mon) Enpō go-nen hachi-gatsu hi) ([Chrysanthemum crest] fifth year of Enpō [1677], eighth month, day); on the hilt collar, knife handle, and hairdressing tool: 政美 (Masayoshi).
