Vertical Band from a Tunic
Not on view
This shoulder band was once inserted in a Coptic tunic. Tapestry-woven on a red ground, a haloed female is depicted along with vases, palmettes, and lions. The leaflike feet of the female is a characteristic stylization in this period. Like most Coptic textiles, this band probably was unearthed from a burial site in Egypt.
