Plate 2 of a set of 8 plates of designs for box lids. This plate presents three designs of flowers, the first and third of which are set in rectangular frames with scalloped edges, while the second is in a regular rectangular frame. This second one also presents a design inspired by Japan, of a temple and figure with umbrella.
The second and third designs are inverted copies of box lids designed by Lucotte for the Encyclopédie (Vol VIII, Orfevre-bijoutier, Pl. IV, fig. 1, 2).
