Illustration for a bathing costume, by George Barbier, part of the 44th issue of the "Journal des dames et des modes", published on 10 August 1913. The illustration consists of a woman wearing a white (now brown), short, bathing dress, with pink ribbons on the straps and a pink ribbon tied around her torso to form an Empire-cut waist, forming a bow in the front, and a tight bathing hat of matching colores, standing in a blue sea, with waves executed with white (now brown), and holding a small crab on her hand. Her face is covered with makeup: blue eyeshadows, and pink blush on her cheeks.
