Each lithograph depicts the murder of a schoolteacher in rural Mexico by latter-day Cristeros (Cristero rebels), accompanied on the facing page with the name of the teacher, the place and date of the atrocity and a description of the circumstances. The title page records that more than 200 such teachers were killed.The inside of the title page carries a dedication from Méndez to the memory of Aníbal Ponce. The prints and texts are bound.

The subject is also treated in flyer by Méndez from a year earlier (see 46.46.386).

The Met has two copies of this portfolio, both of which have slightly different information relating to its publication. The back cover of the present set is lettered 'Preparo Juan P. Valdes editorial grafica popular' and the back of the other set (46.46.69) reads ''Preparo Juan P. Valdes editorial grafica popular'
