On View Gallery Watson Library

A solid wood book carved in the style of an elaborate round-back leather binding with two raised bands and a delicate gold-painted foredge clasp, carved separately and applied with four small steel round-head wood screws. Both covers received similar raised rectangular decorative panel, which are carved separately as well and mounted into a ¼" deep recess cut into the solid wood. The book is painted dark brown, with a thin gold line painted around the edges of both covers. The raised center panels are painted black on a gold background. All three book edges are painted gold. The spine is further decorated with a floral decal in the center. -- description by Mindell Dubansky in consultation with Marijn Manuels
