Not on view

An artist herself, Berthe Morisot presented a memorable face in several of her sometime-teacher's paintings, beginning with her appearance as the magnetic maja in The Balcony (Musée d'Orsay, Paris). This lithographed portrait, based on a painting, seems to have coincided with Morisot's participation in the first Impressionist exhibition of 1874 and her marriage to Manet's brother, Eugène.
