Pendant

Not on view

Jewels with coin pendants were common in the region of North Africa. This example may have been made in Algeria or Morocco and includes a number of decorative coins that emulate nineteenth century currency from Morocco. Such pendants would have created a distinctive sound when the wearer moved, adding an auditory dimension to this jewel.
