Designer J. Ferry French

Not on view

Amid the abundance of evening and wedding shoes frequently found in historic collections, it is refreshing to find such a fine example of high quality, dressy day shoes in near perfect condition. Very low cut tie shoes in kidskin were considered dressy enough for a wedding or dinner around 1906, although the intense color of this pair indicates they were intended as daywear. This simple but elegant design was meticulously hand made by J. Ferry of Paris for a wealthy American client, Mrs. Abigail Kinsley Norman Prince (1860-1949).
