Round stand

American

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 722

While frill-carved rims, such as that on the top of this stand is common on eighteenth-century English tables, the shape of the legs and feet, the fine foliate carving on the knees, and the compressed-ball turning on the pillar are characteristic of Philadelphia rococo furniture.
