"Toddler Shoe"

Peter Fox and his wife Linda work as a team, with Peter creating the forms and Linda choosing the materials and colors. Their work is most well know for elegant, modernized versions of historical styles, with a particular emphasis on bridal shoes. The design of this shoe is based on the baby or toddler shoe of the 1950s, and is more quirky than the couple's usual aesthetic. The concealed wedge heel is an unusual feature, recalling the work of Salvatore Ferragamo in the 1930s. Creative interpretation of form has seen a renaissance in shoe design since the mid 1990s, and the cartoonish quality of this shoe can be seen as a manifestation of that trend.
