Charles Calverley American

Not on view

Calverley, known for his incisive portrait medallions of prominent Americans, cast this bust-length profile medallion of Lincoln in 1898. Calverley reworked it from an earlier rectangular version of 1868, completed three years after the president’s assassination. It was exhibited at the Union League Club of New York in 1869 (private collection).
