Not on view

Drawing, design for a woman's costume by Vincente Minnelli. The costume consists of an empire waist, lean gown of dark blue color with white, green, orange, and silver trimmings. The shoulders are decorated with green shurrles and green and wite beads; the sleeves are bell-shaped, with layers of white fabric and silver brooches with offsetting scrolls on the upper arms. The waistline is marked by a strip of small, round pearls. The skirt of the gown has an opening on the left side, marked by silver beads, and with large, hanging, teardrop pearls. A large headdress of green, white, and orange strips of rolled fabric, decorated with strips of pearls, and with two large scrolling strips of pearls flanking its sides, covers the head. A matching white and orange scarf is tied around the neck.
