Giulio Sanuto Italian
After Titian (Tiziano Vecellio) Italian
Not on view
Little is known about Sanuto, one of the illegitimate sons of a prominent Venetian noble. His engravings include maps produced in collaboration with his brother Livio, a geographer, and reproductions of the compositions of other artists, often of unusual size and ambition.
This engraving is after the lost painting by Titian, circa 1553, commissioned for Mary of Hungary, Regent of the Netherlands.
