Giv and Kai Khusrau travel to Siyavushgird to tell Farangis their plans. They first need to find Bihzad, Siyavush's mount, who has been allowed to run wild in the mountains since his master's death. When they find Bihzad, the horse allows Kai Khusrau, who is carrying his old saddle, to put it on and mount. The two take off, joined eventually by Giv, and they all return to prepare for their journey.
