Six volumes of The Journal of Design and Manufactures were published between 1849 and 1852 by Chapman & Hall. The Journal of Design and Manufactures was a seminal text on English textile design and its relation to 19th century manufacturing. The journal included samples of fabrics, engravings and educational texts related to the history and future of textile design in England. This particular volume includes nearly two hundred engravings and twenty-nine fabric samples by companies such as Henry and Sons, Turner and Co. and Devas, Minchener and Routledge.
