While signed with Paolo Farinati's monogram, both Bartsch and Albricci assign the execution of this print to his son Orazio. Recently Giorgio Marini, following Oberhuber's and Dillon's opinions, reattributed the execution of this plate to Paolo Farinati (Marini 2005, no. 202)
Regarding the design Albricci points to its dependence upon a lost composition of the Rest on the Flight into Egypt by Titian, recorded by an earlier woodcut of the school of Titian (Rosand and Muraro, pp. 236-237; British Museum 1868,0612.1403.+)
